IU community members are invited to donate gently used items to reuse initiatives during the Spring 2026 move-out season!
Donated items will be made available to incoming students, community organizations, and IU programs. This includes but is not limited to: local nonprofits and community organizations, IU Surplus, and the IU Move-In Free Store & Sustainability Lending Library programs.
For on-campus student residents:
Residence Halls: Donations will be accepted in labeled areas at each center - typically floor lounges / lobbies. Refer to center desk staff for locations. Collection will run for 2 weeks, from April 27th to May 8th.
Campus Apartments: Residents may donate to the International Furniture Give-Away trailers located at 3rd & Union, Campus View, and Tulip Tree Apartments. Collection will run for 5 days - May 7th to May 11th.
Greek Housing: Donations will be accepted in labeled containers at various Greek Houses. Contact your House Director or Live-in Advisor for more details. Collection will run during late April / early May.
For off-campus student residents and all other community members:
On-Campus Drop Off: Donations will be accepted at E-House (704 E 10th St) weekdays 10AM to 5PM. Collection runs April to August.
Off-Campus Apartment On-Site Collection: Donations, collected by Two Men and a Truck in partnership with the Monroe County Apartment Association, will be accepted at various apartment complexes for the Second Chance Sale held in August. Refer to property management staff for details. Collection will run on announced days / hours in summer or through year-round drop off (2170 S Yost Ave.). Proceeds go to nonprofits.
Direct Donations: Direct drop offs are accepted by many off-campus local organizations. Donations will be accepted at the Banneker Community Center (930 W 7th St) starting April 17th as a centralized nonprofit location. The City of Bloomington moveout resource guide offers additional one-time and year long donation options.
Pickups: Several organizations offer free furniture pickups including the International Student Furniture Give-Away program, Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army, and St. Vincent de Paul.
